The Laguna Chaise Lounge.

Whatever it is, it was a hell of a story.

It all began with a nomination for the Chrysler Award for Innovation in Design. With the sudden need to get a portfolio to the Chrysler jury, I now needed a signature piece. I had a Chaise Lounge I had designed for a friend but never executed on, but it felt like the right one. Now with the fire under me to build it for the portfolio, I pulled the drawings out of the drawer and got going.

What follows are some shots of the piece followed by process pictures. I will always be indebted to the people who put their hearts into this project: - the form shaper, Bill Vonnegut (yes, his cousin), the aluminum casters and polisher at California Casting, photographer David Tise and so many other supporters.
